Feather and Fan Socks

After seeing quite a few feather and fan socks on knitting blogs I decided that they would be the perfect socks for me to do as they combine my favourite stitch pattern with my favourite summer knitting, socks. I went on a search for a free knitting pattern for them and although there were many out there, none of them had the version of feather and fan that I know and love. So what else is a girl to do but sit down with her needles and yarn, which by the way was frogged from a previous toe up sock which I was not happy with, and make my version of this popular sock. The yarn that I used is Patons Patonyle 4ply but any 4ply sock yarn would be great, especially those who are fortunate to live overseas and have access to such great yarns. I found THIS SITE the other day, aren't the colours just beautiful but unfortunately they don't ship outside of the US, probably just as well, the last thing I need at the moment is more sock wool.

If you would like to knit my feather and fan socks I have written up the pattern for them and it can be found in the sidebar in My Pattern list or HERE. If you decide to knit them I hope I have made the pattern user friendly and that you find them as fun to knit as I did.

Yay, you have them done and the pic and pattern posted!! They look beautiful!

I quickly went through the pattern and it sounds easy enough that I could do lol. I have a couple of pairs on the go right now (one for me and another one for my nephew), but I have bookmarked the page with the pattern and I will do it and then post the picture whenever I get them done and let you know.

Thanks for sharing this!

Silly me, I thought there was only one version of feather and fan. I cast on a baby jacket and it had 4 purl two togethers, and 4 knit and make ones, but I decided to do 4 knit two tog instead which is the pattern I used before

I am so liking the short row scarf in the Aneadn Silk. I may never use another worsted weight yarn again ::sigh::

Thanks for the pattern Sharon! It looks much easier than the ones I've seen around. Also, if you want to get some of the yummy yarn, i'd be glad to have it shipped here (esp if it's over $40 US free shipping) and then send it to you, Just let me know! I LOVE their sock yarn and it is even better in person!

Hi Sharon,

That lady you met in Knits, Needles and Wool and came along to the Muffin Kitchen - I met her the other day in town and she has asked me to ask you (sounds a bit high school almost) if you can bring the box you were going to sell her along to SNB.

Suzi.
P.S. Really like the socks! Might have to try a pair myself.
