Went To The Big Smoke

Went to Hobart, Tasmanias capital city, for the weekend with Mr Brickie and the kids and a great time was had by all. Lots of sight seeing, eating and a bit of shopping thrown in as well, one of the best shops I found was Tasmanian Wool Suppliers in Moonah. I walked inside and just went WOW, it was huge, compared to our poky little LYS. I bought a couple of patterns but the biggest find was some chocolate brown aran pure wool at $4 a ball, both 10ply and chocolate brown are extremely hard to find here. Needless to say 12 balls are now residing at Shazzas residence.

I did get time to do some knitting in the car as Hobart is a 2 hour drive from Launceston. This is my latest hat design, just a simple peaked cap which has been in my mind for a while.

It took a bit of tweaking before I got the sizing right but I think it is okay now. This one is a prize for one of the girls in my GEMS group, we have an auction at the end of the year in which they spend points they have earnt over the year and there are heaps of girly things to choose from.

Another Muse Hat this time for one of Janelles friends, the colours are shades of red and orange her favourite colours, I hope she likes it.

I really miss buying yarn that way (5, 8 or 12 ply).

Gorgeous hats, especially the colours in the Muse hat.

Hobart sounds like a lovely place. It's nice to get away and do something different.

It's a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeal experience walking into Tasmanian Wool Supplies isn't it?

I looooooooooooove going there when I go to Hobart but you really have to choose what you buy as some of their prices are a bit dearer. (Opal is $22.50 a ball).

Looooooove the hats.

I love your hats. I love hats. I think I will try one of your Muse hats over summer. I've never been to the Moonah store. Will have to check it out next time I am down south.

You're bringing the hat back and making it oh-so-fashionable! Love it!!

PS: Thanks for the Moonah tip-off. I have family in Hobart and will send them there to buy yarn for ME!

You should have let me know you were coming down....very disapointed to hear that our yarn store is bigger than yours...as I'm headed your way in a couple of days and have been day dreaming about Launceston yarn shops!
Hey I had my eye on that chocolate yarn;)
great to see your hats are selling at etsy.
