Fifteen Down, Nine To Go

Fifteen squares of the Lizard Ridge Afghan completed and nine more to go. I am really going to get stuck into them over the next few days as I would love to have this finished by Christmas!! Nothing like putting a deadline on your knitting is there. I must say that I love knitting these squares even if the thought of sewing them all together is a bit daunting. I am seriously considering making version 2 of this pattern but instead of using Noro I would simply choose two contrasting colours of 12 ply. Noro is a lovely wool but I have been somewhat disappointed with the over use of a certain colour, which I have whinged about several times now so wont go on about it anymore but I think the evidence is clear in the above photo.

Took part in a car boot sale over the weekend, the spot cost me $5 and I sold some stash, just bits and pieces of yarn left over from previous projects. Also some pieces of Tupperware from my days as a demonstrator and would you believe that I came home $206 richer, yippee. Will this be spent on more wool you ask? Normally that would be a yes but no not even something that is knit related, an autoharp is going to be heading my way. I learnt to play one in high school, not very well I must admit, but they are not too difficult to play and it has been on my to do list for quite a few years now. The old saying of never being too old to learn or something like that, so wish me luck and I will keep you posted on my musical frustrations.

Dear Sharon, I shall send the Purple People Eater to the Noro Factory!! Oh but it looks so lovely!! I am really impressed. Will you bring some on Tuesday?? What an excellent car boot sale thingy, better than all our stalls put together I think!!!How exciting, playing a musical instrument. You are never too old or too young to play music I think!!!

The afgan pieces look great Sharon! I really can't wait to see this all made up. Good luck with the music. I'd love to learn the piano, but alas we have no room to house one! (I'm working on it, he gets a '52 Chev, I get a piano??)

How strange . . . I have decided to take up an instrument I played in high school too! Must be something in the water here.

Your afghan is looking great. Can't wait to see it all completed. As for never being to old to learn something - I wonder sometimes if I'm too old to learn the flute, but I'm loving it and doing well (according to my teacher). I'd also like to get back into learning the guitar, and I think the piano would be lovely to play as well...don't know if I'll ever do that though, since I don't have a piano and those are terribly expensive.

That's looking FAB-U-lus!

Speaking of Noro, I've just discovered 'Wendy Fusion' which has the same sort of colour changes as Noro and at 1/2 the price I'm definitely going to get me some!

Granted it's not pure wool but it's nice to have an affordable alternative!

Great job!

Wow, how close you are to the end. All you will have left soon is to weave in ends. Congrats on your windfall from the craft booth! I played the autoharp when I was younger too! Brava for you to buy something for just yourself! (((HUGS)))

Sharon, it's lovely. I've just put away some Noro to knit one too. I think it's a fabulous pattern.

Owwweee! I like your squares. How do you do them? Another thing I've gotta try one day. Still waiting to start your hats, I got a baby cardi to finnish first.

Who is going to get the afgan when your finnished?

The colors of the afghan look great & I am so disappointed that I can't use that yarn - remember I told you of my allergy. It's great to learn a musical instrument - I love listening & my 2 daughters are playing the piano. Good luck on your harp!

Lizard Ridge is looking wonderful. I bet (I hope) when you are finished and arrange the squares, the certain color will diminish some.

Cool about the boot sale. My neighbor frequently has garage sales and we usually manage to make a few $$ as well.

It is never too late to take up a musical instrument. It will enrich your life and spark your wonderful creativity and imagination even more. I say go for it!!

Your afghan looks really great! I agree that deadlines are great for keeping a project moving so you can start on something else.

Congratulations on your autoharp! It's wonderful to keep trying new things or revisit old things that you love. You are certainly trying all sorts of new ventures lately and are a real inspiration!

Lizard Ridge is just getting better and better! I'm purple with envy!

The autoharp seeems familiar, is this somethign I may have seen Billy Connolly playing at some point?? Or perhaps something similar.

Unfortunatly I am not musical in any way, so I don't think I'll be taking up an instrument any time soon. However I hopr to progress beyond a boogelly crochet chain to something a little more useful.
