The Good News Is .....

That I have finished all 24 squares, yippee!

The bad news is that they now have to be blocked, ends sewed in and of course all sewn together. Wish me luck because the part I hate most about knitting is finishing, but I keep telling myself that the end result will be worth it. This has taken me longer to knit than I had planned, it is just that our weather down here in Launceston has been a killer. Sure our temperatures don't get to the high 30's and even 40's, like some parts of Australia but the low 30's here are not pleasant at all, the humidity saps every bit of energy out of you and knitting becomes near impossible. Well that is my excuse anyway because I know some of the knitting coven have still been managing to churn out plenty of FO's.

I am off to the ironing board, yes I am going to block these little babies into submission with a steam iron and damp tea towel and then sew *sigh* till next time, happy knitting.

I can't believe you're complaining about the heat! It's only going to be 16 here for the HIGH on Thursday. (That's 16F!)

I really need to find a rich man and move from hemisphere to hemisphere so it's always summer.

I can't wait to see how the afghan looks all put together but I imagine that's not the most pleasant task to tackle in the summer!

Huzzah!! Break out the bubbly!! It's not the steaming, or the ends or the sewing (well maybe the ends a bit) but the arranging of all the squares. I could spend eternity doing it.
Hope you're not giving those builders cause for concern today!!!

I'll make you a deal - I'll come to warm temps to do the finishing of your blanket and you can come here to the snow and have fun knitting - deal??????

That is going to be one amazing blanket! Cheering you on!

Well, come on up here! It's like 1°C & tomorrow will be even colder. Only good thing is that salt truck has finally been instead of the hours they took, last time it snowed!

It's going to be gorgeous!

Hi Sharon
These squares look amazing! I have only just recently discovered these knitting blogs and as a result have just started knitting this afghan.
I don't have a blog yet but am thinking about it. Do you have any hints.
Well I'm definitely inspired now after seeing the results of your hard labour :)
Regards Lois

Yay! The colors look so great! Good luck with the putting together.

You know I'm way jealous of your hot weather. I've been knitting on an old throw blanket just to stay warm! LOL

Congratulations! I can't wait to see it all finished! I'll trade you after that nasty ice storm we just survived!

I need to find that address for you Sharon and then I'll email you, probably sometime tomorrow! ((HUGS))

On the edge of the chair, waiting for that FO photo!

Freezing here too, literally 32F. Am trying to send it to Australia and NZ, but it keeps blowing back this way! :)

Yay!!! On getting those squares done. I can't wait to see it all done and envy you the gorgeous blanket you will have to snuggle up in this winter.

Those colours are so pretty. I can't wait to see it all done and dusted. Sewing up sucks, that for sure. Maybe that's why I love making socks so much?!

Wow, Sharon - that is going to be fabulous.

What fun to get to decide where each block will go. Take one square at a time and when it is cold there Down Under, you will be as warm as toast under a beautiful blanket. (Positive thinking)

Thanks for visiting my blog - yes, Mom and I had a lovely visit.

You can do it. It's going to be great when finished. We're here to cheer you on.

That's why I don't knit squares as I will have a nightmare sewing them together (sorry, don't mean to discourage you). I am sure you will be able to put them together without any problems! Heat? - I will be more than glad to be in Tasmania now than Perth - it's 40 deg. now & we are leaving the air-con house to drive down to the city for the Australian Day fireworks - crazy!

That is a pleasing sign, to see somethign like that finished atleast to stage one. As for the next stages, I'd rather you than me.
I did love the Marianne Faithful reference on Cindy's blog! How exciting???

I sympathise with the heat, it is so hard to knit in those temperatures. That blanket is going to be gorgeous when it is done!

How goes the blocking and sewing in of ends? Are we there yet?

Make that high 30's for Adelaide. You squares look great. I am trying to do a baby shawl asap and it is horrible in the heat
